NSPA issues guidelines on provision of medical checkups

The National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has issued new guidelines on the provision of services under the Aasandha Scheme, which includes allowing citizens to undergo free medical checkups.

Under the new guidelines, medical checkup services will be provided to individuals under packages specific to age groups designated by Aasandha Company Limited, which can be used once a year. Those who have had a medical checkup can undergo a second one in the same year under the recommendation of a doctor.

The medical checkup will be considered completed only after the customer receives all the services included in the package. Medical checkup services will be provided through government hospitals and health centres and the results of the medical checkup will be shared with Aasandha Company under a specified policy.

The guidelines also state that the cost of transferring patients abroad for treatment can only be covered under Aasandha after applying for it. If the change in the cost of transferring the patient is less than 10%, the arrangement will be made at no additional cost. However, if the change in cost is more than 10%, the additional cost will be borne by the patient. In such a case, Aasandha Company will need to share the details of the estimated cost to the patient and obtain their consent.

If the patient transfers to another hospital after the beginning of treatment and the examinations from the previous hospital are repeated, the costs shall be covered by the patient. If the hospital is in the same city, the travel expenses will be covered through Aasandha. However, if the hospital is in another city, the travel expenses will be borne by the patient.

Additionally, the request for a transfer for treatment abroad should be for a foreign hospital that accepts Aasandha insurance. Aasandha Company will publish the details of the grading of foreign hospitals that accept Aasandha insurance.

Furthermore, treatment for women's health problems such as endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) will be available through any diagnosis under Aasandha. These treatments will be available for free from centres registered by Aasandha Company.
