New gov't has brought revolutionary changes: Islamic Minister

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that the administration of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has brought revolutionary changes to Islamic affairs in a short period of time. He made the remark in a post on X celebrating the achievements made by the administration in the first four weeks in office.

President Muizzu has included eight pledges relating to nationalism and Islamic affairs in the roadmap for the first 14 weeks in office. Of these, one of the most important pledges for the first four weeks is to triple the annual state expenditure for the renovation and maintenance of mosques.

Minister Saeed said that this pledge has been fulfilled with USD973,000 allocated for the purpose. He also praised President Muizzu's decision to establish the Zakat House, describing it as a significant change in the history of the country. He highlighted the other pledges of the administration, including facilitating the Hajj pilgrimages of 1,000 underpriviledged individuals, establishing Islamic university campuses across the country, establishing a council for mosques, and commencing Waqf-related initiatives.
