The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has opened the opportunity for the submission of candidacies seeking the party's ticket for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary election.
During a press conference, ]Deputy Chairperson of MDP Ibrahim Waheed announced that individuals interested in running for the parliamentary election on the MDP ticket can submit their candidacies from December 16-25. He also clarified that members will be eligible to contest on the MDP ticket if they the requirements outlined in Article 7 of the Constitution.
Additionally, Waheed said that MDP plans to conduct its primary election on January 26 and 27. He, however, mentioned the possibility of a date change, citing the need for school halls to host the primary.
To express interest in contesting on the MDP ticket, individuals can find the necessary form on the party's official website. In addition, the party will provide a form on its website for candidates to submit their criminal and debt records to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
