Ras Male' will provide a long-term solution to housing: President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that Ras Male', which will be developed on the reclaimed area in Fushi Dhiggaru Falhu, will provide a long-term solution to the housing crisis.

President Muizzu has inaugurated the commencement of the nation's most extensive land reclamation project ever undertaken at Fushi Dhiggaru Falhu. The project aims to reclaim 1,200 hectares in the area.

At the inauguration ceremony, President Muizzu noted that he had repeatedly promised during his campaign that his administration would prioritise housing. He said that the development of Ras Male' is the most important of his housing projects. He highlighted that the project has begun during his first 14 weeks in office and that the administration plans to reclaim an area that is three times the size of Hulhumale' within eight months.

Additionally, President Muizzu said that Ras Male' will be developed as an environmentally friendly city that adheres to the most modern internationally accepted standards under the Safe Island concept. As such, he said the island will be three metres high in the middle and two metres high on the edges. He also said that the city will become the country's first zero-carbon city where environmentally friendly vehicles will be driven.

Furthermore, President Muizzu said that the city will be powered by renewable energy and will have easy accesses to public services, especially for people with disabilities. He also said that a world-class high-speed transportation system would be established between Ras Male' and Male' City. He emphasised that he intends to fulfill every one of his pledges within the given timeframe, noting that he announced 30 days ago that Fushi Dhiggaru Falhu reclamation would begin within one month.
