President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has revealed that his administration plans to expand the Gulhi Falhu and Giraavaru Falhu reclamation projects. He made the statement at the ceremony held to inaugurate the Fushi Dhiggaru Falhu reclamation project.
At the ceremony, President Muizzu said he will continue to commence projects that will benefit the public as much as possible. He also said his administration has decided to expand the reclamation projects commenced by the previous government by increasing the land area to be reclaimed for housing development to its maximum limit. He added that he does not intend to hinder any project planned by the previous government.
The previous government planned to reclaim 150 hectares in Gulhi Falhu and 100 hectares in Giraavaru Falhu. President Muizzu said his administration will commence housing projects in the Greater Male' Region while continuing with the projects that began during the previous government, ensuring that applicants who have been selected as land plot and flat recipients will be guaranteed housing.
Additionally, President Muizzu said the government has made the decision to develop urban centres in seven regions. He detailed that major land reclamation and housing projects have been planed for these areas in order to ensure that citizens in the atolls will receive all essential services without having to travel to Male'.
