Customs revenue increases by 21% in November

Maldives Customs Service has revealed that its revenue increased by 21% in November.

The latest statistics showed that Customs received USD28 million in November this year, which is a 21% increase compared to the USD23 million received during the same month last year. The value of imports decreased by 2% with USD279 million. The United Arab Emirates (UAE), India, Oman, Singapore, and China were the biggest contributors to imports.

As such, USD43 million in goods were imported from UAE, while USD42 million were imported from India, USD33 million were imported from Oman, USD27 million in goods were imported from Singapore, and USD27 million were imported from China. The largest categories of imports were fuel, machinery, mechanical and electrical appliances, and food items.

The statistics also showed that USD14 million in goods were exported from the Maldives in November, which is a 32% increase compared to the same month last year. The Maldives exported the largest number of goods to Thailand, Germany, the United Kingdom (UK), India, and France. Among the most exported items were various frozen and preserved fish products.
