Gov't says will not shut down registered news outlets

The President's Office has stated that the government will not shut down any registered news outlets.

Responding to claims that some online news outlets are being blocked, Chief Spokesperson at the President's Office Mohamed Shahyb said the government will not close or block any news outlet or magazine registered in the Maldives under the laws and regulations.

Spokesperson Shahyb said the President is committed to maintaining freedom of the press to its fullest extent. He assured that the government will uphold the President's commitment.
