Vice president urges embrace of democracy for citizen empowerment

Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has highlighted the vital role of democracy, urging practical commitment to empower citizens during his speech at the Third Congress of Democratic Montenegro in Danilovgrad. Acknowledging the achievements of Democratic Montenegro, he praised the party's dedication to promoting democracy, emphasising its crucial role in fostering a just and equal society.

Highlighting the significance of democracy as society's backbone, the Vice President asserted, there cannot be a free, just, and equal society without democracy. He added happiness and prosperity thrive in a democratic framework. Drawing parallels with the Maldives' democratic journey since 2008, he expressed a willingness to share experiences and mutual learning between the two nations.

Addressing the commitment of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, elected with a clear mandate, the Vice President assured that the government is unwaveringly dedicated to delivering on promises for the nation's sovereignty, independence, and prosperity.

Invited by Aleksa Bečić, Deputy Prime Minister and President of Democratic Montenegro, the Vice President's participation in the Congress marks an essential moment during his official visit to the Republic of Montenegro, accompanied by Ambassador-at-Large, Mohamed Hussain Shareef.
