Foundation stone laid for new school in Hulhumale' Phase II

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has laid the foundation stone for the development of a new school in Hulhumale' Phase II.

Currently, only Salahuddin School teaches from Grades 1 to 10 in Hulhumale' Phase II, making it difficult for the increasing number of residents to get their children a place at the school. Many parents have to travel long distances to take their children to schools in Phase I or Male' City.

The government has decided to solve the issue by commencing the development of a new school in Hulhumale' Phase II. The school will be built with 54 classrooms to accommodate 1,700 students from Grades 1 to 10.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Education Dr. Ismail Shafeeu highlighted the difficulties parents face in having to take their children to schools outside Hulhumale' Phase II. However, he expressed confidence that the development of the new school will address this issue while also providing a high-quality education to students using the latest technology.

Additionally, Minister Shafeeu said the President's manifesto has set out important educational policies, including launching a special programme to develop Maldivian teachers. He also said that the President envisions an education system that instills the love of nation in students.
