Maldives National University (MNU) has unveiled its newest course, Diploma in Media and Public Relations.
The course is designed to train individuals for jobs in journalism, multi-media, marketing, public relations and visual media communications. MNU also plans to launch bachelor's and master's degree programmes for media and public relations.
At a press conference, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Arts Dr. Ahmed Zaki said the course was introduced due to popular demand. He said that their market research shows that this will be a highly successful course, which is why MNU is preparing to introduce the degree course.
The one-year course is designed for students who wish to complete a joint qualification combining the media and public relations modules. The opportunity to apply is open until January 25.
MNU stated that the course will provide training in broadcast journalism, radio/TV presenting, online journalism, investigative journalism and public relations. The university also stated that the course will encourage differentiation of various media courses to suit the needs of a changing society.
