Land to be allocated in Hulhumale' for media village

The government is working to allocate a land plot in Hulhumale' for the development of a media village.

At a press conference, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed highlighted the importance of establishing a media village to address the challenges faced by media outlets. He said the government is working with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) to allocate a land plot for the project in Hulhumale'.

Additionally, Minister Waheed said the President has instructed the ministry to submit a paper on the use of the land plot and how media outlets can generate revenue. He also said that the land-use plan will be formulated after holding discussions with HDC and the media.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu announced his decision to establish the media village following discussions on the proposal presented by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Art to the Cabinet of Ministers. The media village aims to reduce the cost of running the businesses and provide opportunities for journalists to develop their skills by opening up free scholarships.
