Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has launched a technical survey to assess the current condition of the water supply and sewerage system in Villimale'.
Speaking to PSM News, Managing Director Abdul Matheen Mohamed highlighted that the government envisions modernising the essential utility services required for Villimale' and the survey is a crucial step in that direction.
Additionally, Matheen emphasised that the survey marks the initial phase of strengthening the foundational services needed to accommodate the growth in the island's population in the future. He expressed confidence that the efforts will contribute to the island's overall development.
Furthermore, Matheen said that design modifications will be implemented to enhance the water and sewerage system in Villimale' upon completion of the survey. He further expressed his commitment to making the system environmentally friendly as part of the development process.
The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy awarded the contract on December 26 to the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) and MWSC to conduct a comprehensive technical study of the water supply, sewerage, and electricity systems in Villimale'. The ministry outlined plans for the repair and development of the water supply and sewerage system, as well as the construction of additional buildings on vacant land within the island.
