Maldives and US discuss further enhancing bilateral partnership

Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Maldives, Moosa Zameer, has engaged in a phone call with the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.

During the call, both leaders discussed the renewed vigour in bilateral relations between the two nations and explored avenues to further fortify their existing partnership.

The conversation delved into a diverse array of topics, ranging from defense cooperation and economic development to climate change and adaptation, democratic governance, and the rule of law. Secretary Blinken underscored the importance of the partnership, expressing the commitment of the US Government to collaborate with the Maldives on shared priorities.

Minister Zameer conveyed the readiness of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government to collaborate closely on these issues. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to the US Government for its continued support to the Maldives, highlighting the significance attached to enhancing the partnership further. This exchange signifies the ongoing commitment of both nations to strengthen their diplomatic ties.
