A cruise liner from India has arrived in the Maldives with a substantial number of tourists, marking the first cruise liner visit this year.
The cruise liner, Costa Serena, originating from Cochin, India, docked in the Maldives on January 8. Notably, this Italian cruiseliner accommodated around 2,000 tourists and had previously made stops in Mumbai and Goa before reaching the Maldives.
Speaking to PSM News, Maldives Association of Yacht Agents (MAYA) stated that a significant influx of tourists visited the Maldives on the Costa Serena.
MAYA disclosed that 14 additional cruise lines are scheduled to arrive in the Maldives by May this year, with an estimated tourist count reaching 28,000 based on the capacity of these cruise lines.
The peak tourist season sees a diverse array of visitors, with Russia leading in tourist numbers, followed closely by India in the second position, and China securing the third spot in terms of tourist arrivals, according to statistics of Ministry of Tourism.
