The High Commissioner of India to Maldives, Munu Mahawar, has held a meeting with Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed.
The meeting, which took place at the Foreign Ministry, was previously scheduled and focused on discussions regarding the relations between Maldives and India, as per the Indian High Commission in Maldives. However, neither the Foreign Ministry nor the Indian High Commission provided further details about the meeting.
The timing of the meeting is noteworthy, occurring amidst growing concerns over disrespectful comments made by some individuals in Maldives on social media. In response to this, individuals in government positions who were found to have posted insulting remarks about neighboring India have been suspended.
