Gov't resumes allocation of land plots under Binveriya scheme

The government has resumed the allocation of land plots for recipients who have received their land plot registries under the Binveriya housing scheme.

The previous government began handing over the land plot registries in August last year and had allocated some land plots for recipients before the transfer of government. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that his administration will continue handing over land plots and flats to those included in the final lists of recipients published by the previous government.

As such, the Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development resumed the allocation of land plots, with 18 plots handed over in one day. The plots are being cleared and handed over to individuals who have signed the agreement. The ministry stated that around 700 agreements have been signed and a total of 545 plots have been handed over. The remaining plots are handed over as soon as they are cleared.

The government is providing over 9,000 land plots to residents of Male' under the Binveriya housing scheme. The plots are being allocated from Hulhumale' Phase II and by reclaiming Gulhi Falhu and Giraavaru Falhu. A total of 19,639 individuals were deemed eligible in the final list of the Binveriya scheme. The government is giving out around 5,400 land plots from Giraavaru Falhu, 2,200 from Gulhi Falhu, and 1,300 from Hulhumale' Phase II.
