MPS, PGO discuss measures to prevent illegal wealth

The Maldives Police Service and the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) has held discussions to implement measures aimed at preventing the acquisition of assets and money through criminal activities and illegal means.

The discussions were held during a meeting led by Prosecutor General (PG) Hussain Shameem and Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau. The meeting was also attended by Deputy PG Mahmood Saleem, Deputy PG Ali Sameer, and officials from both agencies. The meeting delved into discussions on collaborative initiatives between the two agencies to strengthen the criminal justice system in the Maldives.

During the meeting, Commissioner Shujau outlined the initiatives that the MPS plans to undertake against drug users, traffickers, and gangs, with a focus on curbing criminal activities and enhancing road safety. PG Shameem affirmed the commitment of the Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) to providing full cooperation for the successful execution of the programmes.

The discussions also included measures to support victims of crime and prevent criminals from acquiring assets and money through illegal means. In addition, extensive talks were conducted on the implementation of employee refresher and internship programmes.
