The Road Development Corporation (RDC) has completed the last two segments of Ameenee Magu and made it accessible to the public.
These segments of Ameenee Magu became operational for traffic use starting at 0600hrs on January 13, marking the completion and public opening of the project just 36 days after its initiation. Specific parts of the last two segments were opened to the public on January 10. Notably, these opened sections which included the junction between Ameenee Magu and Izzuddeen Magu, as well as the junction between Kanba Aisa Rani Hingun and Ameenee Magu.
The Ameenee Magu redevelopment project, initiated by the previous government, faced delays and suspension due to the presidential election last year. The remaining segments, 12 and 13, commenced redevelopment on December 9, incorporating four lanes to enhance public convenience upon completion.
The redevelopment of Ameenee Magu is a key priority in President Dr. Muizzu's 14-week roadmap. The administration has allocated USD5.5 million to the project, which aims to redevelop and modernise the whole 1.7km length of Ameenee Magu.
Ameenee Magu is one of the busiest roads in Male’ City due to the large number of office buildings and schools in the area. It is also one of the few roads that run across the length of the capital city and is the main network for utility services. The road also connects the traffic to all areas of the city but has been in poor condition for years.
