The government has decided to form three committees to advise the Minister of Health.
At a press conference, Principal Secretary to the President Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim said the Cabinet has decided to form the Health Advisory Committee, the Public Health Advisory Committee and the Curative Health Advisory Committee. The committees will comprise experts in the health sector who will provide guidance and recommendations to the health minister.
Additionally, the Cabinet has decided to compile a register of National Sports Veterans after discussing a paper submitted by the Ministry of Sports, Fitness and Recreation. The register aims to recognize the services of professional athletes and to maintain records of those who have been involved in sports to facilitate easy access to information for those who want to seek their services. The Cabinet has also decided to launch the National Sports Veterans Ambassador programme to involve registered professional athletes in various sports-related events.
Furthermore, Nazim said a national hackathon will be held to increase the role of youth and women in technology. In addition, a programme will be launched to train 500 youths in coding and technology to provide them with the training they need to be competitive in the global market. They will be trained in accordance with the standards of the Maldives National Skills Development Authority.
