MNCCI aims to introduce FinTech to Maldives

The Maldives National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) has expressed its commitment to introducing financial technology (FinTech) to the business sector in the Maldives.

Speaking at a press conference, Vice President of MNCCI Hassan Shamaam emphasised that the primary objective of the organisation is to establish a FinTech-driven economy in the Maldives. He highlighted the extensive research required for the initiative and expressed the intention to leverage available resources to benefit the youth.

Meanwhile, President of MNCCI Shahmeed Abdulla identified the primary challenge in the business sector as the difficulty in obtaining US dollars and the escalating prices of commodities. He assured that the government is actively addressing this issue and expressed optimism that the value of the dollar will decrease in the future. In addition, he also noted a significant number of youth-owned businesses and urged the government to actively involve small enterprises in its projects.

MNCCI was established with the purpose of promoting the business sector in the Maldives, seeks to contribute to the social and economic development of the country.
