Maldives and Sri Lanka discuss resuming parliamentary training

The Maldives and Sri Lanka have discussed resuming the training programmes for parliament staff.

The discussion was held during a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, and Speaker of the Parliament of the Maldives Mohamed Aslam during his official visit to Sri Lanka.

During the meeting, Aslam thanked Abeywardena for the invitation and noted the long-standing close relations between the two countries. The Sri Lankan Speaker also noted that the relationship between the two countries is long-standing and strong and assured that it will not change despite the change of government.

Additionally, they discussed resuming the training programmes for the parliament staff of both countries. Speaker Aslam also met with Acting Foreign Minister Tharaka Balasuriya during his trip.
