DNR urges ID renewal to finalise parliamentary election voters' list

The Department of National Registration (DNR) has urged individuals aged 18 and above to renew their national ID cards in order to finalise the voters' list for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The DNR stated that the opportunity for ID card renewal remains open until 1500hrs on January 21. Even if individuals over the age of 18 are unable to participate in the parliamentary election, they will still be able to obtain a renewed ID card starting from January 22, without facing any difficulties. The DNR has clarified that the information of individuals aged 18 and above will be updated, and ID cards will be issued after the parliamentary elections.

ECM has scheduled the parliamentary elections for March 17. A total of 284,327 individuals are eligible to vote in the parliamentary elections, including 139,165 women and 145,162 men. It is also 1,523 more than the number of eligible voters in last year's presidential election. Notably, a total of 282,804 individuals were deemed eligible to cast their ballots during the second round of the presidential election.
