The government has held discussions on the waste management projects in Thilafushi with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
The discussions were held at the Ministry of Finance. The meeting was attended by Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Shafeeq and Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim along with senior officials of the finance and environment ministries and delegations representing ADB and AIIB.
The officials discussed the Greater Male' Environmental Development and Waste Management Project and the Greater Male' Waste to Energy Project. Discussions focused on the progress of the projects and sustainability of the solid waste management operations at Thilafushi. The projects are aimed at strengthening the waste management system in Male' in an environmentally sustainable manner.
