Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Aslam has met with the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dinesh Gunawardena.
Prime Minister Gunawardena met Speaker Aslam during his visit to Sri Lanka at the invitation of the Speaker of the Sri Lankan Parliament. Speaker Aslam has met with several Sri Lankan officials during his visit, including former President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa and Acting Foreign Minister Tharaka Balasuriya.
Speaker Aslam also met Yapa Abeywardena, the Speaker of the Parliament. During the meeting, Aslam thanked Abeywardena for the invitation and noted the long-standing close relations between the two countries. The Sri Lankan Speaker also noted that the relationship between the two countries is long-standing and strong and assured that it will not change despite the change of government. They further discussed resuming the training programmes for the parliament staff of both countries.
