All aspects of land allocation process ongoing: Gov't

The government has assured that all aspects of the land allocation process for residents of Male' will continue without any interruption. The remark was made by Under Secretary for Public Policy at the President's Office Mohamed Firzul at a meeting of community associations in Male' held at Sultan Park.

Speaking on behalf of the President, Firzul noted that the administration is continuing with the land allocation process begun by the previous government. The work includes expanding the land area, establishing basic infrastructure and transportation systems and handing over the land registries to owners.

As such, Firzul said that the President gives his assurance that all aspects of the work will continue simultaneously without any interruption. He also said that the land registries will be issued as the land is being reclaimed, adding that 50-54 hectares have been reclaimed in Giraavaru Falhu while 94 hectares have been reclaimed in Gulhifalhu. He noted that reclamation has not stopped, and the new administration is working to reclaim more land than previously planned.

Furthermore, Firzul said the government aims to complete reclamation by October. He also said loans for the construction of houses will be issued at an interest rate of not more than 5% and that the exact amounts will be announced before the end of the administration's first 14 weeks in office. He added that the President also pledged to complete the Thilamale' bridge project and connect and connect Gulhifalhu and Giraavaru Falhu.
