Gov't vows to solve issues on Ameenee Magu

The government has stated that it is working on identifying and solving the various issues concerning Ameenee Magu. The statement was made after the public complained of problems such as potholes and the deterioration of asphalt in some parts of the road.

In a post on X, Minister of Construction and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib noted that the issues identified so far were found on parts of the road that were developed during the previous government. He clarified that the redevelopment of Ameenee Magu up to Izzuddeen Magu was overseen by the previous government, and that the Road Development Corporation (RDC) is evaluating the condition of the entire road and fixing all issues.

The previous government initially handed over the Ameenee Magu redevelopment project to the Male' City Council but later contracted RDC. However, the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) initially laid asphalt at the start of the project as RDC lacked the necessary equipment.

The project failed to be completed by the initial deadline last year and some segments of the road that were opened after development during the previous government remain incomplete. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has given special priority to expedite the project since assuming office. In addition to resolving the problems found in the completed segments of the road, the new administration has overseen the completion of the final two segments.
