Islamic Minister emphasises resilience amid political storm

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed underscored his resilience amid political challenges. He made the remark during a ceremony held at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs celebrating his re-appointment as minister.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Shaheem emphasised his unwavering respect for parliamentary decisions. He expressed no resentment over the recent rejection of his appointment by Parliament, acknowledging that political challenges are not unfamiliar to him, having faced various hurdles in the past two decades. He also affirmed his determination and courage to move forward, having overcome previous challenges.

Additionally, Minister Shaheem said he drew strength from the support and respect garnered from the public and sentiments expressed on social media. Highlighting the ministry's commitment to serving Islam and the nation, he said the ministry remains impervious to the turbulence of the political storm.

During a special session held on January 29, Parliament approved 19 of the 22 Cabinet ministers, rejecting Attorney General Ahmed Usham, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, and Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development Dr Ali Haidar Ahmed. However, they have since been re-appointed to their posts by the President.
