President vows to protect Villimale' public swim area

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has affirmed his commitment to protecting the only public swimming area in Villimale' and ensuring its safety. He made the affirmation during the "Raees ge Javaab"series, which facilitates direct public interaction with the President on diverse issues.

Zoona Naseem, an advocate for the development of beach sports and community engagement, shared her perspectives on proposed changes to the Villimale' beach area with President Dr. Muizzu. She urged the government to preserve the only area available for children and the public to swim, highlighting concerns about boat operations in the vicinity during recreational activities. In addition, she emphasised the potential benefits of introducing beach sports services in Villimale' for its residents.

In response, President Dr. Muizzu assured that the government would prioritise the matter if it garnered widespread public concern. He announced the decision to protect the existing beach area in Villimale', recognising the scarcity of public swimming spaces. He also assured that the government would address the concerns raised by Zoona, emphasising the positive impact it would have on the community.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu outlined plans to establish necessary facilities for water sports training and assured equal opportunities for all. He expressed the intention to identify suitable land in other areas, where available, to cater to the demand for such activities beyond Villimale'.

The "Raees ge Javaab" series serves as a platform for President Dr. Muizzu to directly address questions from the public. The President's Office affirmed the continuation of the initiative, with the President committed to answering public inquiries as time permits.
