Gov't partners with STELCO for heritage initiatives

The Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) to collaborate on heritage-related initiatives.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer Ibrahim and Managing Director of STELCO Hussain Fahmy during a ceremony held at STELCO.

The heritage ministry stated that STELCO will offer technical support to the ministry in heritage-related activities, according to the terms of the agreement. As such, the renovation of the minaret of the Old Friday Mosque is scheduled to commence next week.

STELCO has been involved in supporting the restoration and preservation of the Old Friday Mosque and its minaret as part of its corporate social responsibility. The ministry plans to extend the scope of assistance provided by STELCO in the future. STELCO is also engaged in collaboration with the ministry to facilitate the repair work on the replica of Kalhuohfummi.
