The Ministry of Tourism has revealed that China has become the top source market for tourist arrivals in the Maldives.
The latest statistics published by the tourism ministry show that the number of tourists from China reached 23,972 as of March 3, marking an increase of 2,074 tourists compared to Russia, which currently holds the second position as a source market for tourist arrivals in the Maldives. Overall, the statistics indicate that 214,470 tourists have visited the Maldives by March 3, reflecting a 13.3% increase compared to the 189,332 tourists recorded during the same period last year.
The statistics also show that the Maldives is now welcoming an average of 7,362 tourists daily, with visitors typically staying for 8.1 days in the country. The government has set a target of attracting two million tourists this year, and indications suggest that the actual number may surpass the goal, reaching 2.3 million tourists.
