President unveils plans for Guraidhoo Airport Development

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced the initiation of development work for an airport in Guraidhoo, Thaa Atoll, with plans set to commence this year. The announcement was made during a gathering with the residents of Guraidhoo, marking a significant step toward fulfilling campaign promises and enhancing the infrastructure in the region.

Expressing his gratitude for the warm welcome received during his inaugural visit to Guraidhoo after winning the election, President Dr. Muizzu assured the island residents that he is dedicated to translating his promises into tangible outcomes. He highlighted the implementation of a special plan to meet campaign targets, with notable progress achieved in the first nine weeks, aiming to fulfill all objectives by the 14th week.

Despite budgetary constraints and adjustments, the President underscored the commencement of projects, including the airport, highlighting a commitment to prioritize initiatives beneficial to the people. President Dr. Muizzu affirmed that practical work on the airport project would commence within the year, reinforcing his commitment to fulfilling promises, including the establishment of a hospital and other essential projects.

Acknowledging the economic challenges inherited from the previous government, President Dr. Muizzu outlined efforts to address unpaid bills and enhance the country's income. He emphasised the significance of recent visits to Türkiye and China, noting their potential benefits for the Maldives, with plans for another overseas visit this month, followed by a comprehensive tour of all islands across the country.

In concluding his remarks, President Dr. Muizzu expressed optimism for the future, asserting happy days are ahead for all the people of the Maldives.
