Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moosa Zameer, has lauded the remarkable achievements of the Maldives in the foreign sector during his address to the residents of Madifushi in Thaa Atoll, as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's visit.
Minister Zameer acknowledged that the independence and sovereignty of the Maldives were at risk when President Muizzu's government assumed office. However, he highlighted the significant progress made through the government's dedicated efforts.
Referring to the President's commitment to enhance the capacity for safeguarding the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) around the clock, Minister Zameer underscored that this visionary approach had not been previously considered by any past president.
Minister Zameer dispelled the notion that the Maldives was dependent on other nations, asserting that President Muizzu's foresight has brought about a transformative shift. He noted that the President has successfully demonstrated that the Maldives can assert and maintain its independence without relying on external support.
