Gov't prioritises addressing concerns of citizens

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu emphasized the government's dedication to prioritising the concerns of citizens. He made the remarks speaking to residents of Vandhoo, Thaa Atoll.

In his address, the President called upon Island Council members to collaborate with government authorities in identifying and prioritizing urgent needs for the current year within a two-week timeframe. He assured that the government would promptly initiate the implementation of identified projects.

Highlighting the significance of addressing erosion, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the priority status of the reclamation project for Vandhoo. He pledged the government's commitment to undertaking this project promptly and urged the council to list developmental issues in order of importance, ensuring alignment with the aspirations of the island's residents.

Reiterating the importance of economic activities, the President encouraged councils to capitalize on the opportunities provided by the government for the islands to allocate jurisdiction. This, according to regulations, allows islands to serve the collective interests of the community, encompassing both individuals and enterprises. The President emphasized that this strategic approach would enable councils to enhance their revenue and contribute to the overall development of the islands.
