President affirms diligence in fulfilling pledges

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reassured that he is committed to fulfilling his promises with diligence. Speaking at a gathering with the island's residents of Omadhoo, Thaa Atoll, the President addressed concerns raised by the Island Council, which included issues such as the lack of health services, laboratories, and adequate school space.

Acknowledging the shared challenges faced by many islands in the country, the President affirmed the government's support for Omadhoo's development and the progress of its people. However, he emphasised that due to the economic situation in the Maldives, all projects cannot commence simultaneously. The government will prioritize the issues highlighted by the council and approach them systematically. President Muizzu underscored his commitment to careful and considerate fulfillment of pledges.

Addressing education sector challenges, the President identified them as widespread issues affecting all schools. He pledged to prioritize resolving problems related to school space, teachers, and resources.

Highlighting the economic potential of the two islands under Omadhoo's jurisdiction, the President promised full cooperation to make them available for economic purposes.

In a positive shift from the past, the President noted the new government's focus on supporting councils. He noted the establishment of a dedicated ministry to assist councils on a daily basis, paving the way for their progress. Encouraging the council to address economic issues with priority, the President urged them to work collaboratively to resolve other challenges.

Concluding his address, the President affirmed his commitment to non-discrimination, assuring that all islands in the Maldives, regardless of population size, will receive equal attention and support from the government.
