Gov't plans employment festival for individuals with disabilities

Minister of Social and Family Development Dr. Aishath Shiham has announced plans to organise a special festival or carnival aimed at creating employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. The decision was made during her engagement with the public on the social media platform Facebook, where she addressed various concerns and queries.

She emphasised the importance of facilitating further education and employment prospects for this demographic. She pledged the government's commitment to implementing special measures to support individuals with disabilities in pursuing their educational and career aspirations.

Under the leadership of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the government is endeavoring to enhance opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Efforts include the establishment of a national registry for individuals with disabilities and the development of regulations governing employment practices and opportunities tailored to their needs. Moreover, initiatives are underway to ensure accessibility of workplaces and services, thereby fostering inclusivity in employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
