President underscores commitment to tech integration

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has underscored commitment to tech integration at the World Governments Summit 2024

During his address at the World Governments Summit 2024 in Dubai, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu highlighted the Maldives' commitment to advancing technology and artificial intelligence for increased productivity and business growth. Commending the UAE's leadership, he reiterated manifesto pledges, focusing on paperless e-government platforms and AI integration in services.

The President outlined a vision for sustainable economic development through the Visitor Economy Concept, featuring projects such as a central maritime port, Velana International Airport (VIA) expansion, and global shipping route integration in the northernmost atoll.

Environmental sustainability took center stage with the announcement of the Ras Malé Eco-City project, aiming to provide 65,000 housing units and set new sustainability standards. President Dr. Muizzu stressed the urgency of addressing the climate crisis, outlining goals like increasing renewable energy to 33%, establishing biosphere reserves, planting five million trees, exploring vertical farming, and implementing a 20-year development plan.

Closing his speech, President Muizzu emphasised the need for international cooperation, pledging collaboration and knowledge sharing for sustainable development. The Maldives looks forward to forming partnerships with other governments to achieve shared success and priorities.
