President ensures inclusive housing projects for all society

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has underscored the government's commitment to inclusivity in housing projects, ensuring consideration for all segments of society. He made the remarks during the inauguration ceremony of the first 'Isravvehinge Naadhee' centre dedicated to senior citizens.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Muizzu acknowledged the challenge of assisting individuals in need without a comprehensive registry but assured that efforts were underway to complete on at a national level. He said that it will facilitate easier identification of individuals requiring care.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu addressed the housing issue affecting various demographics, including older citizens. As such, he announced plans to address the issue by carefully evaluating housing conditions and categories within society. He pledged to introduce a bill defining the categories in Parliament soon.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the broader societal benefits of resolving housing challenges and uplifting marginalised groups like senior citizens. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to involving them in decision-making processes, a pledge made during his presidential campaign. He also noted the importance of considering other in-need groups in society and assured they would also receive special attention.

Moreover, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the significance of upholding core values in shaping the nation's future and highlighted the role of the newly inaugurated centre in fostering nationalism. He expressed hope for its maximum use and emphasised the collaborative efforts needed, including the establishment of senior citizen centres across the country and initiatives by the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage, to preserve the Maldivian identity.
