President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that free assistance for research works on the Addu City Bridge Project has been secured, and the construction of the bridge is set to commence within the current year. The announcement was made during his meeting with the residents of Maradhoo and Maradhoo-Feydhoo as part of his ongoing visit to Addu City.
The President emphasised the government's commitment to an economic vision that prioritises Addu City. Notably, projects such as the Hulhudhoo-Hulhumeedhoo Bridge, the Addu City Seaplane Hub, and various tourism initiatives are anticipated to bring transformative changes to the entire Addu City landscape, added the president.
Highlighting the imminent initiation of survey work for the bridge, President Muizzu expressed confidence that the works of the construction of the bridge would begin within the year. He assured that the Addu City Bridge and other associated projects would be executed in a manner that maximises benefits for the residents of Addu City. Additionally, he mentioned that Maldivian companies would be given opportunities to offer supplementary services during the project implementation.
The president underscored that donation for the feasibility study and design of the bridge have been secured, and the government is determined to kickstart the projects at the earliest. Furthermore, he pledged to address water and electricity issues in Addu City, improve road planning, and develop the city to mitigate flood problems while enhancing the availability of public services.
