President Dr. Muizzu has announced the Addu City Bridge Project linking Hithadhoo to Hulhudhoo-Meedhoo will be completed and operational within four years. He made the statement during a gathering in Hulhumeedhoo, part of his tour across four atolls in the Maldives.
Speaking at the gathering, President Dr. Muizzzu emphasised the government's commitment to making the bridge project a reality. He also noted that the preliminary design and survey work, including sea level studies and public consultation, is underway with support from the Egyptian government.
Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the significance of the bridge project and described it as the largest in the country's history, emphasising its potential to transform transportation systems. He reiterated the four-year timeline for project completion during his term.
Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu outlined his economic vision for Addu City, including the development of the 6,000-bed Asseyri Tourism initiative and a Sea Plane Hub to connect the southern atolls of the Maldives. He pledged to address various issues in the area, such as constructing a hospital in Hulhumeedhoo, resolving water and electricity issues, improving road planning, and mitigating flood risks while enhancing public services availability.
