President affirms inclusive collaboration with all councils

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has affirmed the government's commitment to collaborating with all councils, without any exclusions. He made the remarks while engaging with the residents of Fuvahmulah City at the Gnaviyani Atoll Education Centre, as part of his ongoing visit to the southern atolls.

Speaking at the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu stressed that every citizen and island is equally important to the government. He assured that there would be no discrimination against islands or councils in the current administration, highlighting his past experiences with the challenges of excluding councils.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu highlighted the significance of establishing a dedicated ministry to oversee councils, aiming for closer collaboration. He called for cooperation between the government and councils to address community needs. He also pledged to propose a legislative amendment to facilitate allowances requested by the Women's Development Committees (WDCs).

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the commencement of the second phase of road development in Fuvahmulah, marking the start of a nationwide initiative to enhance road infrastructure. He also announced the allocation of three specific areas for beachgoers and swimmers during shore protection initiatives. Moreover, he unveiled plans for the construction of a new harbor, aligning with the collective aspirations of the residents.

In his closing remarks, President Dr. Muizzu outlined plans for eco-tourism, airport expansion, and hospital development to tertiary level in Fuvahmulah City. He also urged the council and residents to participate in the development efforts of the city.
