President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with members of the South Huvadhoo Atoll Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) tonight at the South Huvadhoo Atoll Council Secretariat.
During the meeting, the Atoll Council discussed various concerns, highlighting the need for a modern state house to replace the existing one and emphasising the importance of having an uninhabited island under Atoll Council jurisdiction for economic benefits. The Council members also noted challenges in recruiting technical staff, space constraints in the Council Secretariat, and the necessity to increase the profitability of atoll shops for the benefit of the entire atoll.
The President provided updates to the Council on the Government's course of action to address the highlighted issues. He also informed them about the Government's plan to extend the benefits of atoll shops in Malé to the atoll council.
