The "Addu Asseyri Tourism Development Plan" has been unveiled.
The "Addu Asseyri Tourism Development Plan" was launched by Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal and Addu City Mayor Ali Nizar as part of the government's 100-day plan. The comprehensive plan, developed with the assistance of CDC Consulting, outlines the objectives for the development of tourism in Addu City over the next five years.
One of the significant goals of the plan is the development of 6,000 beds in Addu City, aiming to accommodate the growing tourism sector. Additionally, the plan envisions creating 10,000 job opportunities, contributing to economic growth and employment in the region. The scope of the plan extends beyond tourism, incorporating strategies for expanding economic activities within the area.
Several specific initiatives are highlighted in the plan, including the establishment of a cultural village, the creation of a wellness zone, and the designation of protected areas in Addu City. Furthermore, the plan proposes the establishment of a hospitality school, emphasising the importance of skill development and education in the tourism sector.
Notably, the plan includes a significant milestone – the reopening of the Shangri-La Villingili Resort.
