President assures flat recipients' rights ensured

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reassured that the rights of individuals allocated flats would remain intact. He gave the reassurance while speaking at the 'Ahaa' public forum to address public queries at Sultan Park.

Speaking at the forum, President Dr. Muizzu addressed concerns regarding housing, highlighting its significance as a top government priority, alongside issues of freedom and sovereignty. He affirmed the government's commitment to ensuring housing for all within its five-year term.

Additionally, President Dr. Muizzu announced the establishment of a committee, comprising trusted community members, to oversee the approval of flat recipients, moving beyond sole reliance on ministry staff. Emphasising a collaborative approach, he stressed the importance of community involvement in the process.

Furthermore, President Dr. Muizzu underscored the committee's role in scrutinising the flat recipient list with the Anti-Corruption Committee (ACC) to rectify any inaccuracies in flat allocations. He also emphasised that individuals deemed ineligible would not lose their housing rights.

Moreover, President Dr. Muizzu disclosed that some flats earmarked by the previous government will not be distributed by the current government. Instead, he said that eligible individuals would benefit from the inaugural social housing project initiated under the present government.
