President meets Thuraakunu Island Council and WDC

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the members of the Island Council of Thuraakunu and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) at Thuraakunu School.

During the meeting, the Council discussed various island-related issues, emphasizing the need for road construction, the establishment of a Maldivian Islamic monument, and the development of sports facilities for youth. The Council also highlighted residents' desire to bring the nearby uninhabited island Van’gaaru under their jurisdiction. Pressing concerns included the lack of space for the council office and school, issues with the island's harbor, and residents' eagerness for a land reclamation project. The Council raised concerns about the power crisis and challenges faced by the island's health center.

The Women's Development Committee members of Thuraakunu shared their concerns, including budget constraints.

President Muizzu expressed his commitment to engaging with relevant authorities to address the concerns raised by the Council. The Ministers in attendance shared the latest updates on the Government's efforts to address the issues raised by the Council.
