Decentralisation system will see unparalleled progress this term

Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, has expressed optimism about unprecedented progress in the country's decentralisation efforts within the next five years. He conveyed this outlook during an event held in Dhidhdhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll, as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's tour of several islands of north. The minister extended gratitude to the island's residents for their patriotic reception of the President.

Highlighting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's commitment to the people, the nation, and its sovereignty, Adam Shareef emphasised the President's love for the country, evident in his ongoing visits and dedicated efforts to enhance the financial capabilities of local councils.

Adam Shareef stressed the significance of financial empowerment, stating, the real power is financial power. He stated every progress in decentralisation is progress for the people.

In contrast to the common political tendency to forget promises, Adam Shareef commended the President for maintaining transparency, ensuring accessibility of promises through documented channels, and expressing confidence in their fulfillment.

Addressing the economic challenges inherited by the President upon assuming office, Adam Shareef asserted that the President's dedicated efforts from day one will contribute to the recovery of the nation's economy.

Acknowledging the opposition's influence through parliamentary dynamics, Adam Shareef underscored the President's resilience in striving to improve the country's situation. He emphasised the pivotal role of winning the upcoming parliamentary elections for the government to bring about the revolutionary changes necessary for the nation.
