State Minister Sheryna heads to Geneva for 55th HRC

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Sheryna Abdul Samad, has embarked on a journey to Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the High-level Segment of the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council, scheduled from February 26 to March 1, 2024.

During her visit, State Minister Sheryna is set to deliver the country statement at the High-level Segment of the 55th Session of the Human Rights Council. Additionally, she will engage in meetings with senior officials from other Member States and the UN system. Her agenda also includes active participation in side events held on the sidelines of the ongoing Session.

As a current member of the Human Rights Council from 2023 to 2025, the Maldives has been an ardent and engaged participant in the Council's activities. This marks the third time that the Maldives is serving on the Human Rights Council, demonstrating its commitment to the promotion and protection of human rights on the global stage.
