President meets Baarah Island Council and WDC

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has held a meeting with the members of the Island Council of Baarah and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) at Baarah School.

During the meeting, the Council conveyed the key concerns of the community to the President. These encompassed challenges such as space constraints in the Council office, the preservation of historical and archaeological sites on the island, the need for a sports arena for the youth, and a request for an increased number of doctors to enhance healthcare facilities. Additionally, the Council addressed transportation challenges and advocated for the installation of Fish Aggregating Devices to promote youth engagement in sport fishing.

The Women's Development Committee of the Island shared the challenges they face, including budgetary constraints and a shortage of workspace. Their requests included a designated area for women at the beach and the establishment of sewerage services on the island.

President Dr. Muizzu reassured his commitment to resolving the highlighted issues by the Council. The attending ministers provided updates on the Government's initiatives regarding the Council's concerns, indicating a collaborative approach to address the developmental needs and challenges faced by Baarah.
