President meets Utheemu Island Council and WDC

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has met with the members of the Utheemu Island Council and the Women's Development Committee (WDC) at Baarah School.

During the meeting, the Council highlighted key concerns of the community, including the renovation of the island mosque and the challenges arising from the damaged harbor. Members also expressed concern about coastal erosion and emphasised the need for a futsal ground for the island’s youth.

Council members urged the expedited completion of ongoing projects and proper upkeep of historical and heritage sites. They emphasized various essential needs on the island, including a housing project, adequate office space for the council, sufficient school facilities, a State House, and the absence of ATM services.

Addressing their needs, the Women's Development Committee members requested the facilitation of training programs for them.

During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu reiterated his commitment to resolving the issues raised by the council. The attending ministers provided updates on the Government's initiatives regarding the council's concerns, reflecting a collaborative approach to address the developmental needs and challenges faced by Utheemu.
