President announces the development of council's infrastructure plans

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has emphasised special efforts for the infrastructure development of council offices using investor finance. The President made these remarks during his address on the occasion of Decentralisation Day.

He noted that there has been a lack of focus on improving council infrastructure for the past 13 years, and the government's goal is to create an environment where councils can carry out their legal duties, communicate with the public, and collaborate effectively.

In his address, the President mentioned that the creation of a separate ministry to strengthen decentralisation is showing visible results. He also highlighted that the pace of implementation is accelerating as the collaboration between the government and councils increases on various issues.

The President expressed that the policy established and enacted to 'bring uninhabited islands under council jurisdiction, enabling residents to gain profit' signifies a beneficial shift in the decentralisation system. Decentralisation Day in the Maldives marks the formal legislative framework established on February 26, 2011, allowing for the decentralisation of government.
