President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has ratified the fifth amendment to the Elections (General) Act (Act No. 11/2008), following the recommendation provided by the Attorney General.
During his official address to the residents of Ken’dhikulhudhoo, Noonu Atoll as part of his regional tour, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu acknowledged consulting the Attorney General regarding the ratification of the bill, which was recently passed by Parliament. He reiterated his commitment to follow the legal counsel provided by the Attorney General.
He further articulated his directive for the scheduling of elections prior to Ramadan, expressing a preference to avoid electoral activities during the holy month.
